Social Mobility for all
The project aimed at creating safe spaces for the young mothers, adolescent girls and the youth living within the communities of kifumbira, kamwanyi and kinawtaka.
It’s widely recognized that safe spaces whether formal or informal make women and girls feel physically and emotionally safe. Much as Uganda also recognizes the importance of facilitating such spaces to provide supportive ecosystems as a necessary element for developing strong and empowered adolescent girls who are growing up in harsh circumstances, and particularly patriarchal societies, as they transition into adults, in Kampala ghetto communities, women have limited spaces to meet, feel secured, confident and can discuss their issues which allow them to form social cohesion. The available public spaces are often largely dominated by men. (With funding from network for Active Citizens)
